Nearing the end.

Probably it's something good for all the other interns out there but not me. Yes, my internship is ending. And I'm upset about it cos of a few reasons.

1. Now I have to fret about my future. Being an intern means I don't have to worry about my future. Yet. But now I'm ending my internship, which means I'm graduating soon, I will have to worry about what I should work as my permanent career since I'm not going to University. Currently, I'm interning at Showmakers, an event management company which actually takes care of technical aspects of an event which are audio, visual and lighting. I am hoping that I can continue my internship here, provided that my bosses are willing to! -cross my fingers-

2. I can't bear to leave the people. Yes, I really can't bear to. Throughout this period of almost 3 months, I've made a few friends there and they've taught me quite a lot about how to survive when working and the skills needed for AVL. I still have a lot to learn, definitely. Cos for one, I'm pretty much a slow learner. And also, I have an amazingly small memory space which according to quite a handful of people, is the size of a pea.

Every day on Twitter and Facebook, I see rants of other interns hoping their internship would end quickly. But somehow when I read those tweets, I always hope that it wouldn't end so quickly so that I wouldn't fret so much about my future.

Although working drains me a lot both physically and mentally, I believe that it just makes me a stronger person than before again, both physically and mentally. I think being an intern has allowed me to be exposed to the things that one can never, ever learn from the books. I learnt that no matter what you do, there will always be people who can criticise about it. An example, you work hard in hope to excel in this but others see it as you trying to get better grades than others or say that you 'spoil market'. I've come to listen and not take it to heart cos these are the people who want to see you fall into this dark pit whereby you just get swallowed in self-pity. And most of the time, these are the people who are pretty much not giving much to the company.

Also, I learnt that socialising is important. I may come across as anti-social or shy to strangers. Which is why when I'm doing events alone or with someone I don't know, I tend to shut myself from the world. But socialising is important because knowing people from the same industry might just benefit you at times when you needed help the most.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE BACKSTABBERS/GOSSIPERS. This is a fact that everyone knows yet some will never know how to avoid themselves in landing this kinda shit. So what one can do, is just not explain themselves to anyone but the people who matter the most in that situation. If it's about your work quality, explaining to the boss will do. Cos others don't matter.

Alright, my typing speed is getting a little slower than usual, which means it's nearing the end of this post. I'm sorry for the infrequent activity here cos I'm really busy with work and off days mean plenty of sleep to me, so yeap. Hope you guys would stay tuned though, for future posts. If not, you may add me up on Twitter and/or Instagram for my daily rants and photos of work and whatsoever. My username is Zhiyin_g. Don't be shy to interact with me yeah?

Stay safe and happy, my lovelies. Bye! X

Late New Year Resolutions.

Once again, I left this blog to rot. Sorry, I didn't mean to! Work was crazy but I like the crazy working hours cos it keeps my mind off stuff.

Alright, I know this post has come a little late but here are some of my new year resolutions.

1. Do something about my future.
Yes, I'm graduating from Singapore Polytechnic this year and I have to think about my future. University or work? I'm leaning towards the latter. A lot of people around me are trying to psycho me into getting into University but I don't think studying is really a thing for me. Plus I think I'll most probably die from the stress if I were to study any more. For me, I like working. I like doing things hands-on. Being an intern at Showmakers has proven my point. Even though I complain about being tired and all, I actually enjoy working there much more than sitting through lectures and tutorials in school. Furthermore, I have taken an interest in the things I'm learning and experiencing through my internship and along with the help of a mentor, I am thinking of entering this industry after getting my diploma certificate.

2. Increase my weight!!!
Okay, really. My weight has been annoying me for so many years and yet still remain stagnant despite the amount of food and junk food I eat!!! I'm annoyingly skinny to the point whereby finding clothes seem to be hard and some clothes actually look ugly on me cos I'm just too skinny. Bottoms are really hard to find since my waist is 24 inches which makes me a size 2 and I've no idea why most shops I go to don't really have size 2 available for me. But no worries, I'm gonna continue eating more and hopefully hit 45kg by the end of this year.

3. Fly to somewhere.
Bangkok, Taiwan, Hongkong, just anywhere that I can fly to. It's not that Singapore isn't great, it's just that everything is getting pricey here and I need to increase my wardrobe content so I have to fly to somewhere where clothes are much more affordable as compared to Singapore! Plus they have really good food there and leaving Singapore for a while somehow allows me to leave my problems here for a while too.

4. Update my blog more.
Okay, guilty. It's not that I don't want to but it's more of like I'm too tired to. I'm spending whatever time I have, apart from work, to eat and sleep. Yeap, most of the time that's what I do cos I'm too tired to do anything else. But a promise made so I'll try my best to blog whenever I can!

In any case, somehow I'll forget all these by next week since my memory space is like the size of a pea. Or according to one of my best classmates, 'smaller than that'. Anyways, I hope you guys would have a great year ahead and a late Happy New Year to all of you lovelies reading my blog! Thank you for reading my posts even though they're like irregularly posted and of broken English. Take care and stay happy, lovelies! X

Another closed chapter.

Yet another chapter of my life has ended. It's painful, no doubt. And I cried. Many comforted me, consoled me, but I know it is something that I can only get through it myself. But I'm thankful of the friends who texted me, thankful for the friends who care for me. And I hope that those who genuinely cared, our friendship will go on for a long time.

When that part of life was over, I used work to numb myself. I work harder than before, cos I know it is the only thing that is able to keep my mind off all of these. But at the same time, I find myself liking this line of job. No doubt it's tough and requires more physical work than others but I believe it is something I would want to have as my job. Probably some might think that I spoil market by coming back to help on off days or that I'm trying to bootlick my bosses and stuff. Well, if you're thinking this way, then continue thinking that way cos petty people will only lead to their own downfall.

Also, I realised that the only constant in my life is family. Cos no matter what happens, they'd welcome you back with open arms. Although the words they say may be mean at times but know that they want the best for you.

I haven't had the courage to tell my parents what really happened cos I'm afraid of crying in front of them. It's not because of pride, but it's because I wouldn't want them to worry about me. Being parents, they already have enough to worry about and I wouldn't want to break down in front of them and give them severe heartaches.

Some have tried to get me to go back to that part of life and I am going to say it right here that no, I can't. It's not because there isn't any love anymore. It's because of the loss in mutual understanding and acceptance. And I'm glad there are friends out there who gave me sound advice and encourage me to meet them up so that I wouldn't be so depressed.

Now, listening to emotional songs means dying on the inside and being at places with memories means more heart ache. It takes time, I know. And if you're reading this, I'm letting you go because letting go is also a form of love. I feel that you're better off with someone more understanding than me and someone who has a much better temper than me.

And to all the lovely readers out there, stay sweet if you're attached and stay happy if you aren't.

Finally back.

So, I didn't blog for about a week. Sorry for the hiatus! (If there are even any loyal readers.) In any case, I was busy working. Yeah, like really busy. Standing for hours and promoting P&G products.

Worked at Great World City with Ben, Enik, Peiling and Zan on 24th and 25th March. The sales was really good and I had fun giving out balloons to cute little children and babies. Looking at them smiling when they receive the balloons was really heartwarming. Anyways, here're some of the photos! (Photos are not of any sequence cos apparently the photos got messed up.)

From left to right, Zan, Enik, Peiling and Ben!

Masking tape comes to good use when your shoes are spoilt!

Dinner for the day, SUBWAY's Cold Cut Trio!

And balloon display art done by yours truly. Haha!

Peiling and me at a petrol kiosk's toilet while on our way to meet Nigel and co.!

Enik and Ben pumping balloons for kids.

Flying balloon! We made it fly by putting it into the balloon pumper. And well, it flew. But the balloon pumper's really noisy. Like a vacuum cleaner.

Peiling getting hit by a baby with a blue balloon. This baby is super cute. When the balloon got detached from the stick, he'd cry. When the grandmother took the balloon from him, he'd also cry. Super cute!

We had to wear the lab coats on while working so that we'd look professional and more reliable. Had a bet with the cashier, also called Peiling. Glad we hit the target and won the bet so she had to treat us to Old Chang Kee as breakfast! :)

Anyways, on 26th March to 1st April, I worked at Toa Payoh Hub with Aeiyuni and Shuqi as promoter at Watsons fair. Standing there for 8 hours was pure torture cos it was really warm and people who came just threw the products aside when they see the prices of the products. Of course, I was mad but I couldn't say anything because customers are always right. Didn't really take any photos cos I was perspiring like mad and didn't had the mood to take any. But I did make some new friends and even found out that one of the promoters for another product is from SP's DMC as well! She is in year 2 though. Spent 2 hours on the last day from 9.30pm to 11.30pm on packing and counting of stocks. I almost died. Thank goodness, Zhengxian came down to help and be my free labour or I might still be there at 12.30am.

Working is tired, definitely, but I had a good experience. Still prefer working over studying though. Haha. I know my mindset's really stuck on it but yeah. Anyways, found out something disappointing when I was working with Shuqi. I guess humans are just selfish. Alright, this post has been pretty long so shall end it with a video. Remember to be kinder to promoters and the products you see as well~ Goodbye lovelies! :)
