Chapter 1

'Give me what I want or everyone around you will die.'
With trembling hands, she stared at her mobile phone. It was the third time she received life-threatening messages in two days. These messages were sent to her phone by a number that couldn't be tracked. She threw her phone away, turned up the volume of the television, and wrapped her knees tightly with her arms.

Layna is a stunning woman, in fact, she was far too stunning. Her captivating looks attract every man she comes in contact with. She has the perfect face and body, which every woman longed for. Layna's family lived in a terrace at New York City. They were rich. Richer than most people living in New York City. Her life was almost flawless until her father passed away when she just hit 21.

Layna's father was a scientist. He did all his research at home, in a laboratory where no one was allowed into it. Not even his wife or Layna. No one knows what he was experimenting on, other than his client. He would tell no one what was his experiment about and who he was working for. He spent so little time with his wife and Layna that they became strangers. He didn't even know his wife, Quin, was having an affair with their neighbour, Tory. He may not even know who Tory was.

After Layna's father died, Quin left the house and moved to Buenos Aires with Tory. Layna was left all alone. It was then, Layna started to receive weird messages. She did not know what was the sender referring to. Neither did she know who was it. She knew it was only right to contact the police but the anonymous had warned her not to do so. A thought came to her mind. She turned down the volume of her television, searched for her phone and started typing a text message.

'Give me some time.' Layna searched for words in her brain but it was all she could think of to reply to the anonymous. A few hours later, Layna jumped up. The music from her phone had pierced through the silence of her home, waking her up. 'A week.' Layna heaved a sigh of relief as she scooped up her dog and headed to her room to sleep.

To be continued..
