So after studying for so many years, I've come to a conclusion that Singapore's education is really not suitable for me. Why? Well, I'm really interested in filming regardless of TV or movies. However, I've been rejected twice. The first time was because my GPA was not up to the criteria. But guess what, I missed it by a 0.02 GPA score. I was really upset. Because going for diploma plus for Certificate in Digital Film (CDF), was something I aimed for even before I got into Singapore Polytechnic (SP). All my classmates who applied for it together with me got in, except for me. That was another thing that upset me. The second time was because I didn't apply for concentration for Radio and TV Production and Management and that's why I couldn't get into the TV Studio and Management class. I didn't apply for that concentration because it includes Broadcast Journalism, which is something that I didn't fancy. What I wanted was to learn how to film, direct and produce. But what was in the concentration are things that I didn't want to learn. And also, designing is one of my interests. That's why I did not apply for the concentration. Pretty disheartening, isn't it.
Being denied twice has really made me feel that being in Singapore wouldn't allow me to achieve my dreams - to be a director and/or producer. A friend suggested that I go University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to study. So I did a little research about it and found out that they have a School of Theatre, Film and Television. And well, I got so confused with everything that I gave up reading through every single detail. I'd go for UCLA right after I graduate from SP but if only I had the money to do so. Yeah, money is an issue for me. And another thing is that, can I really excel in UCLA? I'm a person who can't really handle overwhelming stress. Also, I'm one who is more interested in doing hands-on stuffs rather than reading the little words off the books that'll be as thick as a dictionary. Or maybe even thicker.
In any case, what I've decided for in the end would be to work after I graduate. And help out Sher in any way that she needs because she's gonna set up her own shop. I want to be there for her when she needs someone. And I hope I can be one of her investors, so that's why I'm going to work to invest in her shop!
